When is crisis support provided?
Crisis support is provided to affected persons in the event of a serious incident at a workplace. A crisis is usually triggered by an unusual or unexpected event, such as an accident at work or a situation where you have been subjected to threats or violence. Both the injured person who has been involved in the incident and those around may need crisis support. The crisis support includes both the immediate care of the person(s) in the form of a relief call and the possible follow-up interventions.
Simple advice in case of a crisis situation:
It is important to take care of people who have ended up in crisis and you should never leave a person in crisis alone in the emergency stage. Initially, it is important to comfort and calm and make sure that help comes. You should never send a person home in crisis without knowing that someone is there to receive them. As a supervisor, you may need to redistribute tasks and responsibilities temporarily and are the one who must ensure that crisis support in the form of conversations is established. In the emergency situation, the person who is in crisis cannot take a position on what measures are necessary or whether "you can manage yourself", but interventions should always take place in the emergency stage without discussion with the victim.
Obligation to notify
Employers must report occupational injuries and serious incidents. By reporting on https://anmalarbetsskada.se/, you meet the requirements of both the Work Environment Ordinance and the Social Insurance Code. Workplace accidents that have resulted in serious personal injury or death must be reported to the Swedish Work Environment Authority without delay. The same obligation applies in the event of more persons being affected and in the event of incidents involving a serious danger to life and health.
